July gigs, new album update

July gigs, new album update

Posted: July 2, 2018

Summer’s here and the time is right for a couple of China Syndrome gigs in July. We’ll be playing for the first time ever in the burgeoning City of Surrey on Friday, July 20 at The Flamingo Lounge, 10768 King George Boulevard, near the new Surrey downtown core. We’re pleased to be sharing the stage at this great new-ish venue with Doug Andrew & the Circus in Flames and Campfire Shitkickers. Things get rolling at the Flamingo at around 9pm on the 20th and if you’re commuting to the gig from Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster or other parts of Metro Vancouver, it’s easy to get to via SkyTrain — it’s just a couple of blocks east of the Gateway Station stop on the Expo Line.

Our second gig in July will be just over a week later, an outdoor show on Saturday, July 28 at Cates Park in North Vancouver, 4000 block of Dollarton Highway near Deep Cove. We’re pleased to be part of the Cates Park Concert Series for the third time and this is the 20th year that Musart Cultural Society has been doing this! We’ll be playing a 45-minute set starting at 4pm, and two other bands will be playing after us, Highland Eyeway and All Kings Assembly. It is all ages and free, so bring the family for a picnic or buy a delicious burger at Wally’s!

New album news: we have a title! The album is going to be called Hide in Plain Sight, which is a line from one of its songs, “Outta My Head.” It will be on vinyl (as well as CD, streaming, downloads, etc.) and we are currently putting our efforts into getting it out October/November. Keep checking here for updates.

The ever-elusive Justin Lim took some shots and video of us at our June 9th gig at LanaLou’s–check out the photos on our 2018 Photos page and the video below of “Curated,” a song from our upcoming album. See you out there in July!
