March gigs and Bowie Ball gallery
Posted: February 4, 2018Well it’s already February and we are overdue for an update! We don’t have any gigs scheduled for this month as some of us are on vacation, but we do have a busy March planned, with two gigs and more recording time.
Our next gig is on Saturday, March 3 at LanaLou’s, 362 Powell St., in Japantown, Vancouver. We’re pleased to be sharing the stage with fellow Vancouver rockers, The Judys and Trouble11. We’ve played a few tribute gigs with The Judys but this will be the first time we’ve actually shared a bill with them playing our own songs! And we’re excited to have Trouble11 on the bill, a band featuring one of our favourite people, Alex Vampleton (formerly of Bubble11)!
Our second gig in March will be on Friday, March 23 at the Fairview Pub, 898 West Broadway, with our good friends EddyD & the Sexbombs and Wichita Trip. Looks to be a fun night with our fellow Bowie Ball participants, featuring an eclectic blend of rock ‘n roll, roots and power pop at the venerable music institution!
In between these two shows, we’ll be back at JC/DC Studio continuing to work on our as-yet-unnamed fourth album. We gave you a little taste of our new album in December with our seasonal song, “Footsteps on the Roof,” and we’re aiming to release the full album later this year.
Finally, we’re pleased to share some select photos from our appearance at the Bowie Ball on January 6 at the Rickshaw Theatre. This year we played three different David Bowie songs from 2017: “Queen Bitch,” “Boys Keep Swinging” and “Ashes to Ashes.” Thanks as always to Dave Bowes for organizing and Mo Tarmohamed and the Rickshaw for hosting, it was another successful fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society, raising over $10,000! A big win for great local bands, too, so many super renditions of Bowie’s songs! And thanks to all the fantastic photographers there that night to capture it; we also have more shots from the event on our 2018 photos page.
