Pictures and video from a busy January

Posted: February 12, 2017

Just thought we’d use this post to look back at the month of January, which was a busy one for us! We played three gigs: the Bowie Ball at the Rickshaw Theatre paying tribute to David Bowie, a night at the Fairview Pub and back at the Rickshaw for the Super Duper Show, playing Paul Leahy songs (and a cover of one of his favourite songs). Sadly, Paul (pictured above) passed away the night before the show on January 26, so the gig turned into a celebration of his life and music. We talked about him in our previous post, and we can’t say it enough that Paul was a truly special musician, one of the best guitarists we’ve ever seen, and an even better person. His quiet, humble personality belied his showmanship and incendiary guitar playing. We’ll miss him dearly.

Here is a gallery of select pictures from our January shows–more can be seen on our 2017 photos page.

At the Bowie Ball we played three songs: “Let’s Dance,” “Watch That Man” and “Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps).” At the Super Duper show we played “When She Has Her Coffee” and “Big Excitement” (both No Fun songs written by Paul Leahy) and “Only You,” originally by English synth-pop band Yaz[oo] and a song Paul used to cover. Here are videos from each of the gigs we played.

Our next gig is on Saturday, March 4 at the Princeton Pub, 1901 Powell Street in Vancouver. We look forward to playing this wonderful and intimate neighbourhood again–hope to see you there!
