Paying tribute to Bowie @ the Rickshaw – what a night!

What a great night it was for the David Bowie Tribute Show at the Rickshaw Theatre! The gig completely sold out and several thousand dollars were raised for the Canadian Cancer Society and David Bowie’s favourite charity Keep a Child Alive.

We were so pleased to be a part of this celebration of the music of Bowie; all the bands were fantastic, there were just too many highlights to mention. We played “Let’s Dance,” (the title track from his 1983 album), “Cracked Actor” (originally on 1973’s Aladdin Sane; our rendition was based on the version from David Live, 1974) and, lastly, “Ashes to Ashes,” his classic single from 1980’s Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)–we’ve posted our performance of the song below. It goes without saying Bowie was a truly special artist to all of us and we will likely not see the likes of someone like him again.

Finally we’d like to extend a big thank you to the organizer and driving force of the show, Dave Bowes (a.k.a. Dirk Bently)–Dave marshalled 20+ bands and pulled it off successfully! Thanks also to Mo Tarmohamed and everyone at the Rickshaw Theatre, Johnny Wildkat on the soundboard and all the bands who provided the great backline for the show. Here are some pictures of us taken by Linda Bakker.

And here’s our performance of “Ashes to Ashes,” also shot by Linda.
